Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey's prime minister, has written to President Nicolas Sarkozy of France warning that "irreparable damage" would be caused by the passage of a bill making it a crime to deny that a genocide of Armenians took place during the last years of the Ottoman empire, reports The Financial Times.
