A group of 15 French cryptocurrency investors have filed a legal complaint against Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, which they accuse of marketing its services in France before it received official approval to do so, of using misleading commercial practices and receiving the proceeds of fraud. The complaint by the group, who claim losses of close to 2.4 million euros in transactions via the platform, is the first of its kind in France involving the highly speculative and volatile sector of digital assets. Laurent Mauduit reports.
Since its launch, 68 people have informed the platform they had been infected and only 14 users were alerted that they were now at risk because of their contacts with these people, digital affairs minister Cedric O said.
French digital affairs minister Cédric O claimed on Wednesday that the launch of a contact-tracing app that warns users if they have come into contact with a person who has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus got off to a 'very, very good start' after it was downloaded around 600,000 times since becoming available the previous afternoon.
