A collision on Wednesday between two British-registered light aircraft above the French Alps close to the border with Italy left the two occupants of one of the planes dead while the pilot of the second was reported to have been injured. 

Boats and helicopters are also being deployed off the Indian Ocean island to expand the hunt for missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

The debt-ridden carrier said it will cut some routes to Spain, Italy, Norway and Malaysia, and sought 'to postpone delivery of long-haul aircraft.'
