Redoine Faid

French robber Redoine Faid, who made a Hollywood-esque helicopter jailbreak, was arrested in northern France after three months on the run.

Gendarmerie services said Rédoine Faïd, 46, a convicted gangster who escaped jail for a second time in a hijacked helicopter on July 1st, was spotted in a car "observing a service station", but managed to avoid arrest after fleeing the scene and dumping his car in a shopping centre where it was found to contain explosives and false number plates.

Rédoine Faïd, jailed for robbery in which a police officer died, was aided by armed men causing diversion outside prison while helicopter landed.

Redoine Faid, who held five people, including four guards, at gunpoint before detonating explosives to destroy five doors, was arrested at an hotel.
