    A Paris court has ordered maverick far-right polemicist Eric Zemmour to pay a fine of 10,000 euros after finding him guilty of hate speech during a television appearance when he described unaccompanied migrant children as "thieves", "rapists" and "murderers".

    French cinema director Jean-Jacques Beineix, whose films include Diva, The Moon in the Gutter and Betty Blue, died on Friday in Paris after a long illness at the age of 75.

    France's junior minister for the protection of children has announced a government plan to criminalise incestuous relationships between adults, extending the current ban which applies only to those that involve children, in a move that follows widespreadl controversy over the issue prompted by revelations that high-profile political scientist Olivier Duhamel sexually abused his teenage stepson.
