At least two people were killed and several wounded in a stabbing attack in the French town of Romans-sur-Isère, local media are reporting, citing police sources, reports i24NEWS.

According to the immediate reports, the attacker has been arrested, and the exact nature of the incident is being established.

France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office is reportedly evaluating the case to take over if enough ground to treat it as a terror attack is found.

Conflicting numbers are coming in on the number of injuries, ranging from five, as per France Bleu Drôme, to seven, as reported by the AFP. At least one is said to be in a critical condition.
