Prosecutor says no decision yet on Sarkozy case

Lawyer overseeing case against former president for alleged abuse of frailty of Liliane Bettencourt denies reports he recommends dropping charges.

The prosecutor overseeing the legal case against former President Nicolas Sarkozy said Friday he has made no decision on the case, denying a report from French newspaper Le Parisien which said he would recommend dropping the charges, reports Fox Business.

"The procedure, which includes several thousand documents�requires a detailed analysis," said Bordeaux prosecutor Claude Laplaud in a statement.

Le Parisien newspaper reported in its Friday edition that court documents showed the prosecutor in Bordeaux, where the case is being investigated, would recommend closing the formal investigation against Mr. Sarkozy for allegedly abusing the weakness of Liliane Bettencourt, the heiress of the cosmetics group L'Oreal SA.
