Two men were killed in a gangland-style shooting in Marseille on Friday night, reports Radio France Internationale.
There have been 28 fatal shootings in the region around the southern French city this year.
The men's bodies were found by emergency services on Friday night in a black vehicle with no number plates.
One was 22-years-old, the other aged 20.
While one of the victims was reportedly known to police as a drug user the other had no criminal record.
A third man, aged 24, was also found in the car, slightly wounded.
He was taken into custody, the Marseille prosecutor's office said.
The men had been attacked by "two men on a scooter. One was armed with a Kalashnikov-style rifle, the other with a handgun," prosecutor Xavier Tarabeux said.
