Macron says France will show ‘no weakness’ on Russia sanctions
In a televised address to the nation, the French president said that in invading Ukraine, Russian president Vladimir Putin had carried out the 'gravest attack to peace and stability in our Europe for decades'.
FranceFrance will “respond with no weakness” to Russia's “act of war” in Ukraine, French president Emmanuel Macron said Thursday in a solemn speech addressed to the French people, reports Politico.
Giving a pre-recorded address in front of Ukrainian, European and French flags, Macron said that “sanctions toward Russia will be on the level of the aggressions it is itself guilty of — on the military and economic level, as well as the field of energy, we will be without weakness,” he added.
Russian president Vladimir Putin "has decided to carry out the gravest attack to peace and stability in our Europe for decades," Macron said.
