Air France’s troubled relations with its workforce seemed to improve on Wednesday as pilots voted in favour of plans to develop its low-cost operator Transavia, reports RFI.

The vote follows a strike that saw more than half of the company's flights grounded for two weeks in September and October because pilots objected to proposed contracts and work conditions.

In a sign tensions are still rife, the vote in favour of expanding the low-cost wing scraped by with a slim majority of 53 per cent.

Air France welcomed the vote, which it said would pave the way to multiply the activities of Transavia over the next five years.
