The floods that hit central France and Paris last week have caused hundreds of millions of euros of damage, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said, reports The Wall Street Journal.
However, the French premier said on Monday the full extent of the damage hasn't been assessed yet.
Water levels on the Seine river fell significantly Sunday as rainfall over central France has gradually eased in the past two days, though French authorities are still grappling with the consequences of severe flooding.
Mr. Valls said the government has set an extreme emergency fund of tens of thousands of euros to aid the people left homeless after the floods. Rescue services, meanwhile, are working to reopen roads and clean the areas that were flooded, mainly the Seine tributaries upstream Paris.
Rising water levels are expected to gradually hit towns on the Seine river downstream of the French capital.
