French protesters participating in demonstrations against labour reforms pelted the country’s economy minister Emmanuel Macron with eggs outside a post office in Montreuil, a suburb east of Paris, on Monday, reports The Telegraph.

The protest outside the post office was reportedly held by the CGT trade union, organiser of a strike that has disrupted rail services for almost a week.

Macron was attending the post office in Montreuil to reveal a stamp commemorating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of France’s Popular Front coalition government, which created new labour laws in favour of workers.

The 38-year-old former Rothschild banker regularly polls higher than France's current president François Hollande, and has recently been accused of harbouring a desire to be president.
