French journalists kidnapped in Syria ‘still alive’

Didier François, a radio reporter, and photographer Edouard Elias were kidnapped near the northern Syrian city of Aleppo in June.

The French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, said two French journalists kidnapped in Syria in June are “still alive”, reports RFI.

Didier François, a reporter for radio station Europe 1, and photographer Edouard Elias were kidnapped near the northern Syrian city of Aleppo in June.

Speaking on French television on Sunday, Fabius confirmed the two men were still alive, but declined to go into details as he said any information “could go back to the hostage takers”.
