Person killed after being hit by Eurostar train in France

Long delays followed the tragic incident which took place about 30 miles south-east of Calais and involved a Paris-bound train.

A person has been killed after being hit by a Eurostar train in northern France, the company has said, reports The Guardian.

Passengers were told to expect long delays after the incident, which happened on Friday afternoon. The identity of the person killed has not been released.

The incident happened at Sainte-Marie-Cappel, about 30 miles south-east of Calais, the local emergency department told Agence France-Presse.
