France denies it pressured EU to buy French vaccines over German

The efforts to find a scapegoat for the slow rollout of jabs has firmly started in Europe.

France's minister for European affairs Clément Beaune strongly denied allegations that the EU passed on purchasing more German-made vaccines to make Paris happy, reports Politico.

“These accusations are unacceptable and false,” Beaune tweeted.

As many in Europe are looking for a culprit behind the lack of ongoing vaccinations, Karl Lauterbach of Germany's Social Democrats (SPD) has taken aim at France, stating that “the French insisted for the number of [BioNTech/Pfizer] doses to not be too large compared to [the number of Sanofi doses] although this vaccine was far from ready.”
