French cinema star Kassovitz admits being 'idiot' in bike accident
French actor and filmmaker Mathieu Kassovitz said the serious motorbike accident he had earlier this month on a closed circuit, and which led doctors to consider amputating part of his leg, was because he was an 'idiot' and wanted to be a 'superhero' for his daughter following behind.
TheThe French actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz has said he was trying to be a “superhero” and impress his daughter when he had a motorbike accident that left him in hospital with serious leg injuries, reports The Guardian.
Kassovitz, best known for his 1995 film La Haine and his role in the 2001 film Amélie, came off his bike after misjudging a corner on a training course. His daughter was on a motorbike behind him with an instructor, and his wife and son also witnessed the accident.
In an emotional and occasionally rambling Instagram post from his hospital bed, he said: “I’ve been a dickhead for 30 years because I force myself to be one, I force myself to distance myself from reality and celebrity … I’m 56 years old, perhaps it’s time I stop being a dickhead and realise there are people who love me.”
