French jobless rate falls to five-year low

Unemployment in France fell overall during the first quarter of 2017 to 9.6%, down from 10% in the fourth quarter 2016, with a 1.4% drop in the jobless rate among 15-24-year-olds to 22.3%.

France's unemployment rate dropped to a five-year low in the first quarter, as the job market improved for the country's young people, reports MarketWatch (Dow Jones).

The unemployment rate fell to 9.6% in the first quarter of the year from 10% at the end of 2016, national statistics agency Insee said. Unemployment among 15 to 24 year-olds fell to 22.3% from 23.7%.
