In a statement released Friday, the General Confederation of Labour union, the CGT, called on its members among Air France staff to hold strike action on January 28th on the day of the airline's first central works council of the year, reports Global Travel Industry News.

The strike is in protest at layoffs and outsourcing.

Air France is planning to eliminate 3,000 job in the next two years; 1, 000 are planned for next year, and 2,000 more will follow in 2017, unless Air France management find a working agreement with Air France pilots by February.
