French minister says UK would be 'killed' in post-Brexit trade talks

French economy minister Emmanuel Macron warned that if Britain leaves the European Union it would have no clout with countries like China.

A French government minister has said that Britain would have a much weaker hand when negotiating trade deals, if it votes to leave the EU in June.

Economy minister Emmanuel Macron, interviewd by the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, also said the UK would find it far harder to defend its steel industry against China, but the claims have been dismissed by supporters of a leave vote.
