France to lend Britain 950-year-old Bayeux Tapestry


France is to lend Britain the 70-metre-long, 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry that depicts the invasion of Britain and victory of Norman King William the Conqueror over Anglo-Saxon King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, although it will take several years  to ensure it when it is safe to move it.

France will lend Britain the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century treasure that tells the tale of how William the Conqueror came to invade England in 1066, an official at the presidential Elysée Palace in Paris said on Wednesday, reports Reuters.
