A convicted British conman who is the subject of a Netflix series is on the run in France after allegedly injuring two police officers, reports The Times.

Robert Hendy-Freegard, 51, is accused of driving at the officers as he sought to make a getaway in his Audi A3 after they arrived at the property where he lived with Sandra Clifton, 49, his partner, in rural France.

Police had entered the property to remove their dogs, thought to be beagles, following a legal order to close their breeding business.

The intervention came after Clifton’s children claimed that their mother was being coercively controlled by Hendy-Freegard, which he has denied.

Police said they were seeking a man in connection with the incident. French media named him as Hendy-Freegard.

He reportedly accelerated at the officers when they asked him to get out of his car. Both were taken to hospital, although neither suffered serious injuries.
