A direct Air France flight for Tehran left Paris on Sunday for the first time since 2008 when the connection was suspended, reports The Independent.

French Transport Minister Alain Vidalies and a delegation of business leaders were on board flight AF 378 that took off from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport at 12.24 local time.

The Paris-Tehran route was suspended in 2008 when the international community implemented a new array of tough economic sanctions against Iran and its controversial nuclear programme. They were partly lifted following an historic agreement in Vienna in July 2015.
