A French winner of the European lottery has decided to donate more than 2/3 of his winnings to charity, becoming the most philanthropic winner in the history of Euro Millions, reports FRANCE 24.

What would you do with 72 million euros? A French winner of the Euro Millions draw decided to donate approximately 50 million of his jackpot to charity.

It is believed to be among the one of largest donations ever by a French lottery winner.

French radio RTL reported Thursday that the anonymous winner, a resident of Haute-Garonne in the south west, would donate to “about a dozen charitable organisations.”

“The winner is single and doesn’t have any children. He believes strongly in generosity,” the Française des Jeux (which is the French branch of the transnational lottery) said.

The lucky gambler hit the Euro Millions jackpot on January 31, ending the month 72,149,579 euros richer. His win is the seventh largest in the history of Euro Millions.

While winners of the Euro Millions lottery can do whatever they wish with money, the lottery organiser does offer winners support with the management of their newfound riches.
